Summer Glow Made Easy

I’m not a heavy make-up wearer, but I’m a firm believer that just a little bit applied in the right way can make a big difference.  Yep, that day when you want to hibernate inside and have a make-up free day, then you realise you have run out of milk so dash to the local shop and bump into about 3 people you know, all of whom ask if you are feeling OK?  Well that’s me…every time.  So I know that the 5 extra mins I spend in the morning doing ‘my face’ is time well spent.

I’m pretty sure that most of you reading this also have your daily make-up routine, but I love finding out about new products especially if they have been recommended.  It’s a good excuse to give what you have been doing for a long time, a little shake up maybe?  Getting into a ‘make-up rut’ is far to easy to do, so I hope by sharing what I love is useful and provides a bit of inspiration.

Every morning once I have cleansed and applied my daily face cream, (when I say every morning, I actually mean most mornings, don’t worry I’m not that angelic)  I always wear some sort of light base, normally a tinted moisturiser and I look for one with SPF.   I’m currently using New CID I Tint (SPF 15) which goes on really smoothly and gives a light but decent coverage.  I’m also using Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation (SPF 20+) which I LOVE LOVE LOVE.  I often wear this on top of the I-Tint.  It’s a foundation covered sponge which you dab your application pad into and then blot all over your face.  So easy to use and apply with very natural coverage and a matt finish.

I then always always curl my lashes and apply mascara.  This can make a sleepy eye, (and trust me, I’m not good in the mornings) look much more awake, and add a little bit of glamour to your day.  Things to look for when buying a mascara in my opinion is that it is waterproof and smudge proof.  Can’t stand panda eyes…I mean you may as well not have bothered if your mascara slowly ends up on your face throughout the day rather than stays on your lashes.  Here are the 2 main mascaras I use, Blink Gel Mascara and Estee Lauder Double Wear.

Next you need a good quality blusher brush to apply bronzer and then blusher.  These two items in my opinion make me look alive, which is quite helpful.   I also love bronzer in the summer months because I don’t feel that I have to put my face in the sun to get that ‘sunkissed’ look. You do have to be a bit careful with bronzer though, if you load up the brush too much things can quite quickly look more ‘tango’ in appearance so I always give it a tap on the side of the case and apply in natural daylight if I can.  Same applies with blusher.  Currently in my make up bag is New CID I Glow Coral Crush Shimmer Powder and New CID I Glow Rio Bronzer.

For my lips I keep it natural and apply a good lip balm.  Personal favorites are By Terry Baume De Rose and Dr Lipp’s Nipple Balm for Lips (don’t be put off by the name although this is great for sore nipples and has a whole host of other ways to use it as well.  Bit of a hero product in my opinion).

And that is it.  5 mins of your time, I promise. Anybody else tried any of these products or got a top tip of their own?
